The fixture post is the one graphic every club needs

The matchday announcement is the highest-leverage post of the week: it tells fans, parents and players when and where to turn up, and it sets the visual tone for the lineup, goal and full-time posts that follow. Clubs that skip it look dormant; clubs that post a polished one look like they have a media team.

These templates carry the details a fixture post actually needs — both clubs, the date and kickoff time, the venue or competition — laid out by a designer so you never start from a blank canvas. Post the day before, the morning of the match, or both.

Anyone else spend way too much time making game day graphics?

The usual version of this job is 30 minutes in Canva on a Friday night: find last week’s design, swap the opponent, forget to change the date, get the Instagram sizing wrong, export, spot the typo after posting. Then do it all again next week. Nobody else at the club knows how long it takes, because nobody else has done it.

Game day graphics (US)

If your program says game day rather than matchday, the templates work the same way. Retro Print’s wordmark is a text field, so “MATCH DAY” becomes “GAME DAY” — or “SENIOR NIGHT” — in a tap, and on Pro the three-line headline on Big Night rewords in the manual editor. The same designs serve a college soccer program, a high-school team and a youth travel club run by a parent from the sideline: kickoff time, venue and opponent go in the same places, and the club colours do the rest.

Fixture graphics and fixture posters

A fixture graphic is the same post seen from the club’s side of the week: this is who we play next, here, at this time. Next Up is the broadcast-style fixture board — both crests face off with the competition, date, kickoff and venue between them — and Big Night is the split matchup poster for the derby or the cup tie. Both draw the opponent’s crest from your setup, so the away side is represented properly rather than as a line of text.

On paid plans you can save upcoming fixtures against your team, and the matchday graphic prefills the opponent, competition, date, kickoff and venue from the next one — no retyping on a Friday night. Fixtures live per team, so a club running several age groups on Pro keeps each team’s list separate. What should a game day graphic include?

Both club names or crests, the date and kickoff time, and the venue or competition — the three things a follower needs to actually turn up. The best ones also carry a consistent club identity (colours, crest, a hashtag) so fans recognise the post before they read it, and a player photo when you have one. Leave off the sponsor wall, the ticket small print and anything that only makes sense to the committee; the caption can carry those.

Export the 1080×1080 square for feed posts on Instagram, Facebook and X, and the 1080×1920 vertical for stories, reels and TikTok. Every matchday template produces both from the same design, with the layout re-flowed for the taller frame rather than cropped. Post the still to the feed the day before and the animated MP4 to stories on the morning of the match.
